George Manville Fenn (1831-1909)
George Manville Fenn was a British writer.
He worked as a teacher in Lincolnshire, until he became printer, editor and publisher of various magazines. He married his wife, Susanna Leake, in 1855 and together they had eight children.
Most of his work consists of adventure stories for young readers, featuring explorers, smugglers, young adventurers and seamen. George Manville Fenn's adult novels offer critical social commentary on Victorian England, typically reconsidering economic questions.
